Mother Hubbard's Fish & Chips (South Woodford)

Love this place! The service is always spot on and there’s loads of space to sit and relax. The Masala fish is a family favourite – full of flavour and the portions are really generous. The chicken burgers are super tasty too. We couldn’t leave without dessert (because you can’t skip a sweet treat!) – tried the sticky toffee pudding and the jam & custard cake. Both were delicious, but the sticky toffee pudding wins it for me every time. 😊 Great value for money, a really welcoming vibe, and perfect for families or catching up with friends. Definitely one of my go-to spots in South Woodford.

Tried Mother Hubbards for the first time and saw they have a local branch. I was excited to try it! Definitely worth the trip as this was the most local branch. Food is lovely and fresh. I noticed they had nice comfortable seating. Enough to fit even 30 people. Will definitely be coming here with more of my friends.

A Hidden Gem for Fish & Chips Lovers!😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely blown away by this place! From the moment I walked in, the staff were so welcoming especially a lovely young lady called Keisha, SHOUT OUT KEISHA!!! who had such great energy and an even better smile 😃. Also have to show love to Emma from head office too, you can really tell the customer service is top-tier here. They took their time with me made some great recommendations which I will get to shortly. But yes I hope they both get their flowers they deserve. Now the food… WOW!!! I tried the lemon pepper wings and prawns, and they honestly tasted like heaven. Crispy, juicy, and full of flavour—seasoned perfectly. Both came with these amazing seasoned fat chips, loaded with onions, green and red peppers that gave them an extra kick. Not your average chip shop chips! 🔥 Lemon Pepper Prawns These deserve their own spotlight. The lemon pepper prawns were out of this world—so fresh, lightly crispy on the outside, and full of flavour. You get that hit of lemon and spice in every bite. Absolute must-try and yes they came with the seasoned fat chips 😍😍 I also got the fish & chips (I think it was haddock) and it was so fresh and tasty I had to go back and order another one. Honestly couldn’t help myself. Topped it all off with the seasoned nuggets and curry sauce—and everything just hit. So satisfying. The place itself is clean, well put together, and the chefs are miracle workers. Prices are also super reasonable, especially compared to other traditional chippies. Highly recommend and I’ll 100% be coming back again. Easily one of the best fish and chip shops around! Also sorry about the pictures I couldn’t help myself but to get stuck in straight away so I just recorded it and took screenshots of the food from the video 😅🤣 just goes to show how good the food was. Soft launch at Mother Hubbard’s Fish & Chips Woodford. Excellent fish and chips and the new addition of Salt & Pepper prawns & chips was delicious. Ample seating to bring the family or come with friends. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing! Mother Hubbard’s never disappoints — the fish is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and the batter is light and crispy. The chips are proper golden and fluffy, and portions are generous for the price. Staff are friendly, service is quick, and everything tastes like real quality comfort food. Easily one of the best fish and chip spots around — highly recommend!

Delicious fish and chips from South Woodford Mother Hubbards. Tried the cod for the first time as they normally serve haddock. Lovely tasting fish served fresh and the chips are also great and not greasy. Curry sauce is spot on. The shop is spotless and clean! Great customer service from Zubair! Keep it up!

We went here on the opening day. The food was lovely but the people that worked there and the owner’s made it even better. They were very kind, generous, hospitable and lovely to talk to.We had a great experience!! Would definitely recommend going!
